Mark Kontopoulos

Chair

Mark has over two decades of leadership experience across all facets of volleyball and beach volleyball, both domestically and internationally.

 
He has served as President of Volleyball England’s Beach Commission and held several senior roles at major international events including the Athens 2004 and London 2012 Olympic Games, and various CEV and FIVB competitions. Certified as a CEV Technical Supervisor, Mark has offered advisory expertise to the UK Beach Tour board and is a co-founder of event management company SideOut and Chairman of SideOut Beach Volleyball Club.

He is actively involved in coaching top-level volleyball and beach volleyball, and delivering coaching courses and clinics in the UK and around the world in his capacity as a certified FIVB Instructor. As an athlete, he previously competed at both national and international level.
Beyond the volleyball arena, Mark is an experienced international corporate lawyer with  particular expertise in strategic alliances, dispute resolution and corporate governance. He has lectured in Sports Law, served on Volleyball England’s Judicial Panel and holds dual qualifications as a solicitor in England and Wales and attorney-at-law in the state of New York. 

Nick Meacham

Senior Independent Director

Nick has an extensive background in the sports and media industries, and has spent the last 10 years developing SportsPro into one of the sports industry’s leading media companies. Prior to his work with SportsPro, he worked within the publishing industry, and running sports events in Australia following the completion of his Bachelor of Business with Majors in Sports Management and Events Management.

Nick played and coached volleyball for almost 20 years. He started his playing career in Australia before moving to the UK in 2009, where he played in the top league and team in London until 2016. Throughout the same timeframe, Nick played in multiple National Shield finals and on the Volleyball England Beach tour.

 
 

Margaret Ann Fleming

Finance Director and Scotland representative

Margaret Ann Fleming MBE is the Finance Director for the BVF, and the Chief Executive of Scottish Volleyball.

She is currently Executive Vice President of the CEV and Executive Vice President for the FIVB boards of administration.

 

Dev Kumpar Parmar

Independent director

Dev is an internationally experienced sports lawyer and academic.

He has been instructed on contentious matters before FIFA and TAS/ CAS including disputes over training compensation, through to complaints against federations. He is an active member of Association Internationale des Avocats du Football (AIAF).

Dev's experience extends to consultations surrounding allegations of match-fixing, anti-doping matters and e-Sports, as well as receiving instructions in high-profile investigations within the FIFA Code of Ethics.

Jiggy Rawal

Independent Director

Jiggy Rawal brings many years of strategic and commercial expertise to her role as an Independent Non-Executive Director (NED) at the British Volleyball Federation. With a long background in the private sector, particularly within international financial services, Jiggy has cultivated her skills as a CFO with a strong focus on fostering sustainable growth and meaningful impact.

Throughout her career, Jiggy has consistently demonstrated a heartfelt commitment to driving positive change and making a difference in every role she undertakes. Her journey as a strategic and commercial CFO in the private sector has been marked by a genuine dedication to understanding the needs of stakeholders and leveraging financial insights to create value for all involved.

In addition to her corporate endeavors, Jiggy’s passion for sports and community involvement led her to serve as a board member for the World Gymnastics Championships hosted in Liverpool in 2022. Combining both her commercial skills and passion for sports, she contributed to the success of an event. Delivering £5.6m in economic benefits for the local economy in Liverpool as well as welcoming in over 35,000 spectators over the event. 

Now, as an Independent NED at the British Volleyball Federation, Jiggy Rawal remains steadfast in her belief in the power of sports to unite and uplift communities.

Gail Robson

Independent director

 

Jonathan McFadden

Northern Ireland representative

Currently holding the role of Sports Development Manager with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in Northern Ireland, Jonny has previously worked in performance sport with British Gymnastics in the role of National Talent Development Officer, and boasts over 15 years experience working in sport.  

Jonathan has played volleyball on and off for approximately 20 years and still currently competes in the Northern Ireland league, he was elected President of Northern Ireland Volleyball in January 2021

 

Adam Walker

England Representative

Adam offers considerable experience in sports management, including leadership roles with the Lawn Tennis Association and UK Athletics. As Deputy CEO of UK Athletics, Adam was responsible for securing over £100m of commercial sponsorship, including negotiating the £50m Aviva sponsorship. 

He is the founder of Oaks, a nationally recognised award winning agency providing management consultancy to NGBs such as UEFA, Premier League football teams and FTSE 100 companies, now part of Aquila PLC.

Adam has been an international decathlete, coached the junior GB trampolinist team, been the vice chair of British Handball, and is currently on the board of national Local Tennis Leagues, Active Partnerships and Volleyball England.
